Many things have been said about Venus conjunct Uranus, but being boring is not one of them. The aspect is notorious for breaking up relationships, or getting us involved in relationships of the heart with others. It is known to shake up our financial circumstances (Venus also rules money) for better or for worse. In fact, the one that that is reliable when Venus conjoins with Uranus is that the unexpected will happen.

Uranus has a difficult time conforming to the rules and mores of society, and when it gets involved with the planet of love it can create havoc. Has your relationships been stale and routine? Has your life been bland? If you said yes to those questions then Venus/Uranus can create scenarios where we attempt to find something new and exciting to replace a life that has become stagnant. This can be wonderful and invigorating or it can be destructive and devastating. Attempting to harness this energy into something productive is the challenge with this aspect. One thing we can do is to find something whether that be an activity, an interest, or just stretching our boundaries beyond the ordinary to bring a bit of magic into your lives. Today, we can learn to live outside the box of conformity and the expectations of others to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our desires.

On Thursday, the Sun will move out of Aquarius and into the sign of Pisces. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac cycle, and when the Sun moves into Pisces the desire to connect on a larger level with others is important. Pisces is a highly imaginative sign, and when an enormous amount of Pisces energy is available the most productive way to use this energy is by tapping into the big picture. Venus is exalted and Jupiter is the co-ruler. Pisces is a collective sign that has an enormous amount to do with spirituality and yearning towards something otherworldly. When Pisces gets mixed up with emotional experiences such as “love” it can be rather difficult. However, we all tend to do it on one level or another – it is just part of being human, and why such words like “soul mate” and “twin flames” hold such importance in the human psyche. Venus and Jupiter provides us with the ability to connect with those we love and care for on a much deeper level, yet we must alchemically mix this with reality rather than expectation. The more you allow the flow of relationships to occur in natural organic ways, the more you will get out of them. The higher your expectations and idealizations the higher your frustrations and disappointments will be.

Use the energy of the day to repair any damage in your relationships that may have occurred recently. You will find that you will get more out of them when tensions are removed then when love becomes a battlefield. In addition, Venus rules money and business partnerships. You can use the energy of the day to network, expand, and seek out additional opportunities.

Yesterday, the Messenger God Mercury moved out of the sign of Capricorn and into the sign of Aquarius, and today we have another planet that changes signs – the Goddess of Love Venus. Venus moves out of Aquarius and into the sign of her exaltations Pisces. Pisces is an interesting sign because of its collective representation and because of this it has developed a rather bad press in many pop astrology books. The best way to envision the sign is comparing it to gumbo. Gumbo is a mixture of a bunch of different products thrown together to create a soup, and in many ways Pisces is a collective soup which is the storehouse of all the experiences of humanity since the beginning of time. Tough order for one sign to burden isn’t it? No wonder it is the sign associated with psychological disorders, addictions, alcoholism, and a whole host of other traumas.

When the Goddess of Love gets involved with the sign of Pisces she seems to exhibit her more sensitive nature. After all, she is the Goddess that rules eroticism and the pleasures of the body, which is one of the tricky addictions that can easily erupt when Venus is in this sign. However, she also reflects our need to experience something magical and transcendent out of our emotional experiences. Venus in Pisces is not just happy with garden variety relationships of boy meets girl, she expects explosive emotional sacrificial passion the likes that only soap characters usually achieve. Sounds lovely doesn’t it? Venus moving into Pisces a few days before Valentine’s Day makes it all the more intense.

There is a dark side to this transit – as there is to every transit. Often when Venus is in Pisces our expectations of our relationships are so high and so otherworldly that we experience a sense of frustration and sorrow when we realize our loved ones are ordinary mortal individuals. There is a profound disappointment that occurs when this happens, and unfortunately this is a common experience for deeply romantic types. Why? Romantic types are not necessarily looking for a relationship with a human; they are seeking something mystical and something divine which can never be fulfilled by someone who exists within the flesh. In many ways, their desire for relationships is with someone who does not exist.

So how can we use this energy constructively? As Venus moves through Pisces, I think we can take up the challenge and be empathetic with those around us, and give to them on very deep emotional levels. However, we must be very aware of their humanness and examine our own expectations upon relationships. When we turn inward rather than project outwards, we realize something very profound. The God or Goddess that we are seeking does not exist outside of us it exists on the inside. We become our own magic, and as a result we then see the true magic within others.
