We may find ourselves influenced by the emotions and needs of others as the Piscean Moon makes us more empathic to the needs of others. Since we are in the sign of the upcoming New Moon (occurs on Monday), it is time for us to wrap up loose ends and bring things to conclusion as the New Moon ushers in new beginnings and new opportunities. On Thursday we have another Venusian aspect (earlier in the week we had Venus oppose Saturn) as Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn. This is a very intense aspect, as Venus often feels overpowered by Pluto. With Venus/Pluto aspects there seems to be a need to submit to something for the sake of relationships that we do not necessarily desire, and we can often feel resentful in the process. In addition, there is a tendency for us to feel changes that are occurring in a relationship – whether that is our partner being distanced, emotional withdrawal, or the attempt to be controlled, which could lead to problems and potential arguments. Venus being the ruler of Taurus craves stability, and under this aspect stability is the last thing that is available, so she attempts to hold onto her ideal of the relationship intensely (often in manipulative ways). This leads our partners to feel smothered and restricted. Thankfully, this transit only lasts a few days, and we all go through periods of changes in our relationships. The key is to embrace those changes whatever they are and try not to hold onto anything to tightly. If we are able to let nature take its course, then there is the potential for the relationship to emerge even more powerful than it was before, but if our emotions lead us to become insecure, worried, and fearful we may manifest our fears as reality.

I want you to close your eyes for a moment. You are now a race car driver with a shiny new car complete with that new car smell. You sit in the seat and start your engine. The energy of the car rises through the motor, radiating through the steering wheel and through your body. You push the gas pedal to feel the potential force of the power at your grip. It feels alive and wonderful! You put the car into gear and press the pedal, yet the race car engine begins to sputter and stall. Feel the feelings you are going through, as you realize you are going nowhere in a hurry. This is the feeling we have all been going through since Mars went retrograde on December 20, 2009, but today Mars will go direct in Leo and begin to move forward once again.

Whenever a planet goes retrograde it tends to perform in a more introverted manner based on whatever sign it is transiting through and the natural expression of the planet. Since Leo involves self discovery and individuality, Mars retrograde forces us all to question ourselves, our position in life, and where we are going in the future. Usually it does this by creating roadblocks and obstacles in our lives that make us feel frustrated and out of control in our own world. For the past several months, we have all been re-examining our plan of action whether on a conscious or unconscious level.

Over the period of the next week, we will all begin to feel a bit more in control of our circumstances. While Mars is stationing we can begin to create a plan of action for our future. Did you enjoy the weekend? All the promise of spring burrowing through snow drifts, incredibly cold temperatures, and a winter that lasted too long appeared to be fading before our eyes as warmer weather spread across most of the country. The astrological aspects were beautiful as Venus trined Mars and Mercury conjoined with Jupiter. However, on Tuesday all good things must come to an end as Venus in Aries opposes Saturn in Libra.

Venus oppose Saturn is one of the least favored aspects because of its notorious tendency to cause problems and even end relationships. Venus desires to be social, pleasured, and likes to have fun; whereas Saturn is a nose to the grindstone planet that demands discipline. We may feel conflicted between our duty to uphold our responsibilities and our need to be social and relate to others in a pleasant environment. We all want to relate to others, and feeling stymied by duty can make us feel resentful. When the energy of Venus oppose Saturn is unleashed on already existing relationships it can evoke the areas of our romantic life which may be lacking or where we feel unsatisfied. Thankfully, this aspect only lasts a day (or so)! Today it would be beneficial to avoid reacting to our emotional and romantic frustrations. We may get a bit of relief when we realize that this (like all aspects) too shall pass!
