Cosmic Weather Forecast — January 29, 2010
After Venus’ opposition to Mars on Wednesday, the Sun will follow her and oppose him as well. The Sun is the center of our consciousness, the CEO of the planetary pantheon – what he says goes. Mars is the principle that goes out and gets the Sun what he would like. These two though, are at odds with one another. In many ways, the Sun is in a very social sign of Aquarius, but he is in detriment in this sign. He would much rather be doing something self fulfilling rather than contribute to the social group. So, there is a general dis-ease innate within that Sun positioning. Mars, on the other hand, is in the element of Fire in the sign of Leo, which gives him a bit more power over the situation. Mars knows what the Sun wants even if the Sun is off doing something else. This reminds me of the employer, who keeps around a nasty employee, simply because they can perform. There is a bit of uneasiness and the employer knows that he is going to have to clean up the messes, but because that employee performs well he is kept on. Why? Usually that employee is giving the employer (The Sun) something that he needs! This is a great opportunity for us to explore the reasons why we keep people in our lives, especially those that we do not necessarily like. What purpose do they bring us? Since, most oppositions manifest through our relationships, it might be a time for us to ask ourselves how our relationships are serving us at this time. Remember, who we chose to be in a relationship with, is often more of a reflection about us than it is about them.
Also, on Friday we have a Full Moon in the sign of Leo, which sort of dovetails into that Sun/Mars opposition. Full Moon’s bring things to the surface and make them ripe. It is a time for us to deal with inner issues. At the New Moon, it is time for us to begin things and start things that are new. The Full Moon begins a completion cycle — it is when issues ripen at the surface, reach their maximum potential, and then begin to wane. The Full Moon in Leo is an opposition between the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo. Leo is a very self serving sign; it is concerned with individuality and personal development. It is not really concerned with things outside of us, and our motives tend to be self serving when there is a heavy group of energy in this sign. However, self serving motives – although often used as an insult when flung at others – is really a natural process. The only way that we can truly offer something meaningful is to understand and build ourselves first. This Full Moon is a time for us to ask ourselves whether or not we are happy we are on our path. Is it working for us? Are we reaching our goals? If it is not, then what changes can we make that put us on the path we want to be on? Get out your charts, if you have planets or sensitive spots around 11 degrees of a sign, especially in the signs of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, or Scorpio then this Full Moon may strongly influence you. Take some time on Friday to ask yourself inner questions about what direction you would like to move in. Create goals that are personal in nature. Who would you like to be? Next, make a plan on how you can go out and get what you desire. Giving to ourselves is the first step in making relationships long lasting, and being able to give other something real and meaningful.
