The transits of the Sun, although ignored by most astrologers is actually one of our most significant energy transits of the year. The Sun controls our life on earth, and how we navigate our way through it. Life, no matter where you are located, is vastly different to when the Sun is in Capricorn.
Today, the Sun moves out of Capricorn and into the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is a social sign that is concerned with the group, the group mind, and how the group organizes itself for the future and opportunities or hazards it presents. The current crisis in Haiti, although a tragedy, could not have arrived at a better time. Aquarius is the sign of humanitarian efforts, uncontaminated by individual needs and ideals. Although, like any other tragedy or disaster, individuals will emerge that show the imperfection of idealistic systems, but that does not make the efforts invalid. As the Sun moves through this altruistic sign, we can ask ourselves questions about how we can add our little piece to the better world.
The Moon continues to move through the sign of Pisces, and makes a couple of rough aspects during the day. First, the Moon will square Ceres in Sagittarius, which tends to make us feel that we are not getting enough nurturing out of life. We find ourselves hungry for things that we believe we lack, which can make us appear rather needy. Then the Moon will quincunx Mars in Leo. Often what we feel we need and what we want are in conflict with one another, and today will be a day where we feel a general unease. We can use this energy to do journaling work or to explore what inner food we really need, and the courage to get out get it!
